  • TUESDAY is trash/recycling/composting pick-up day.
  • When Monday or Tuesday is a holiday, all services collect one day later.
  • Carts should be at the curb before 7 am, and should be removed within 12 hours.
  • Additional carts can be purchased by calling 944-2807.
  • Scattered trash should be picked up within 24 hours – including week-ends.
  • If concerns cannot be resolved neighbor-to-neighbor, violations should be reported to the Community Standards Office at 974-6921

Recycling

  • Ann Arbor provides single stream recycling. All recyclable materials go into one receptacle provided by the city.

Composting

  • TUESDAY is trash/recycling/composting pick-up day.
  • When Monday or Tuesday is a holiday, all services collect one day later.
  • Residential compost pickups are made weekly between the first Monday in April and the second Friday in December.
  • Carts should be at the curb before 7 am, and should be removed within 12 hours.
  • Additional carts can be purchased by calling 944-2807.
  • Paper napkins, uncoated paper plates and paper cups,as well as leaves, garden clippings, crab apples, pumpkins, uncooked vegetable and fruit food waste, and tree branches up to 6 inches in diameter are acceptable for composting.
  • The City of Ann Arbor sweeps leaves falling naturally in the street–but not piles of leaves. Autumn leaves and garden debris must be placed in composting carts.
  • If you do not have a compost cart, you can purchase large paper yard waste bags at hardware stores and home centers, and set those out on pickup day.
